It is inspired by the concept of garden in motion of the landscape designer Gilles Clément: the planted species are left free for reconquest, simply guided by a few annual mowing. It hosts wandering plants and allows all, human and non-human, to appropriate this territory: plants, birds, insects, cats sometimes!During a guided walk, Marianne Hérard, anthropologist of the city and research engineer at MSH Paris Nord, invites you to discover the history and biodiversity of this singular urban ecosystem.The research-creation project SOIL (Soil Observation through musical Interaction and Listening), supported by Diane Schuh, Paul Goutmann and John Popham & Pala Garcia (trio Longleash), and supported by MSH Paris Nord, aims to pay attention to the soil through listening and music creation. During this workshop in the garden, we offer participants listening exercises that highlight the sound richness of this ecosystem. Thanks to a device made up of geophones - microphones used to pick up sounds from the ground, participants will then be able to discover another way to listen and pay attention to the acoustic diversity of an environment.Diane Schuh is a researcher, composer and landscape designer. The diversity of listening by Diane Schuh and Paul Goutmann (SOIL project) Soil is often seen as a surface, a building support or a resource. In urban environments, soils are perceived as places of circulation or supports for human constructions. However, they are home to an unknown biodiversity that it is important to recognize and value. During this mini-conference Paul Goutmann and Diane Schuh, research and composition of soil, will present the musical, sensitive and qualitative approach to soil developed within the SOIL project. He and she will explain their approach and will listen, on a device of 4 speakers, sound recordings that make the sound space of the ground and the acoustic diversity of the garden of MSH Paris Nord heard.Diane Schuh is a researcher, composer and landscape designer. In these workshops, any person with autism without intellectual disability is invited to develop their sensitivity to life, whether it be plant, animal or human. Participants learn to listen to musical soundscapes and use appropriate tools, such as BBDMI sensors, to compose by gesture. Concert in the garden A dematerialized approach to sound spatialization by Arnau Gran i Romero The device proposed during this session is based on the reuse of smartphones as a set of autonomous units for broadcasting, spatialization and real-time sound transformation. By mobilizing sensors and integrated speakers, it questions the materiality of traditional electronic devices and explores new forms of listening to and presentation of electronic music, outside the conventional spaces and in a perspective of technical dematerialization.Arnau Gran i Romero is a Catalan composer currently based in Paris.
